MYRTLE BEACH, S.C – (December 4th, 2015) – Tyler Ankrum started fourth and raced hard in the top seven all day long, winding up in fifth place at the checkers of the 125-lap Super Late Model portion of Southern National Motorsports Park’s Thanksgiving Classic.
Ankrum, 14, was pleased overall with the team’s effort on the day and the result that they got in the final race of their 2015 season.
“The outside line quickly got shuffled backwards,” Tyler said. “We finally found a hole around seventh and we were racing hard with those cars for the entire race. We were able to get a few positions working the caution flags late in the race to get to fifth. We definitely didn’t have the car to win, but it was another top five finish and the experience in the super late model has been really, really good for me this year. I’m also confident that my Crew Chiefs Kenyon Davidson and Ethan Stoltz learned a lot more about the setup and what the car likes. We were trying things out all weekend.”
“We kind of struggled at Myrtle Beach last weekend with the (NASCAR late model stock car) but this finish with the super late model makes up for it! I’m pretty bummed that the race season is over, but I’m ready for next season to start! I’m so grateful to our entire Tyler Ankrum Racing team, my family and friends for their continued support. I am especially thankful for our corporate partners, Ion camera Shoot/Share Lucas Oil, K&N filters, Modern Meat, Inc., Autocraft technologies and ACI Construction for standing behind and believing in me.”
